AstraZeneca's overall performance is totally dependent on every facility and location across the Company delivering a good performance. To achieve this all facilities and locations are required to have a management system in place. The system is designed to achieve a high level of performance and to identify and follow through on any areas where improvement is required. The local SHE management system should include the following: 1. A self assessment, which is a process for identifying the key SHE issues of the site. These issues shall be prioritised in the future SHE work. 2. Each site shall establish a local policy and also local targets and improvement plans, which specify how the key issues shall be managed to reduce impacts and risks. 3. Established plans shall then be implemented. This includes e.g. training activities for employees and development of procedures and instructions. Successful implementation is to a large extent dependent on the integration of SHE management into existing systems of work. 4. When the system is up and running, the site must ensure that the work is carried out according to plans and legal and corporate requirements. This is achieved by processes of internal auditing and monitoring. There is also a corporate requirement for reporting on SHE performance. 5. Annually, the management of each site or location shall go through last year’s performance and assess it in relation to established plans and targets. |
