In June 2003, we opened new laboratories at our facility in Bangalore, India, dedicated to finding a new treatment for tuberculosis - the single largest cause of adult death from infectious disease in the world.

More than 70 scientists work in this new centre, including molecular biologists, genetic engineers and chemists.

The Bangalore scientists also work closely with AstraZeneca’s infection research centre in Boston, US and with external academic leaders in the field.
