Pathway analysis

Through a combination of laboratory-based pathway mapping approaches and computational biology, including mathematical modelling, this capability focuses on increasing our understanding of the cellular pathways associated with pharmacological targets.

This supports the discovery of new medicines beyond target identification by offering, for example, alternative options in circumstances where projects may have stalled through problems with target-related toxicity, or through limitations imposed by patent restrictions.

In early development, the use of mathematical models to identify the critical modulators of the flux through pathways, and the way these may help to predict response to specific drugs, is promising to be an effective way to select the most informative components to measure in the clinic.
