AstraZeneca has created one of the most powerful and integrated
global discovery engines in the pharmaceutical industry, and is continually improving its abilities to discover and develop new innovative medicin.

To do this, we are seeking to access advances in new technologies and capabilities from the external community that can be applied to enhance the quality, effec-tiveness, and productivity of AstraZeneca R&D. The Science and Technology Alliances team work across therapeutic areas and functions to identify, evaluate and secure opportunities in key areas of technology interest to AstraZeneca.

Key areas of partnering interest

We are seeking collaborations and licensing opportunities aligned to key areas of technology interes including:

Chemistry
- Expanding the scope of synthetic methodology 
- Novel Lead Generation technologies 
- Predictive QSAR methodology 
- Synthetic scheme prediction 
- Membrane protein structure determination

Predictive Biology
- High content screening technologies for large scale compound profiling 
- More physiological cell-based efficacy screening technologies (e.g. primary tissue or stem cell based) 
- Target validation methodology 
- Improved methodology for safety/toxicity prediction e.g.
     - in-silico simulation
     - in-vitro predictive models
     - in-vivo imaging 
- Biomarker identification and qualification

Predictive Medicine
- In-silico disease simulation and prediction models 
- Rapid sequencing technology for biomarker analysis 
- Imaging technologies providing functional measurements of disease activity

Knowlege Management/Informatics
- Structured searching and text mining tools
- Patent informatics
