DELISTING OF ASTRA AB

AstraZeneca PLC announces that Astra AB intends to apply for delisting of Astra A and B shares on the Stockholm and London Stock Exchanges with effect from Monday 26 April 1999. The last day for trading in the Astra shares on the Stockholm and London Stock Exchanges is expected to be Friday 23 April, 1999. Trading in the Astra A ADSs on the New York Stock Exchange is expected to be suspended from and including 23 April 1999, with such ADSs being delisted approximately 20 days thereafter. Trading in the Astra B ADSs was suspended on 6 April 1999 and an application will be made shortly to delist such Astra B ADSs.

AstraZeneca PLC will make an announcement shortly about the compulsory acquisition procedure.

The Merger Offers may be accepted until 3.00 pm (Stockholm time) (9.00 am New York time) on Friday 23 April, 1999
