Crestor (rosuvastatin)

CRESTOR is a member of the statin class; the drugs of first choice for the treatment of dyslipidaemia. The clinical development programme for CRESTOR has involved over 64,000 patients and includes studies examining lipids, atherosclerosis and mortality/morbidity. Multiple clinical studies have confirmed the effectiveness of CRESTOR in reducing LDL-C (‘bad’ cholesterol) and raising HDL-C (‘good’ cholesterol).

CRESTOR was initially developed by the Japanese pharmaceutical company Shionogi and in-licensed to AstraZeneca in April 1998.

Since the first approval of CRESTOR in the Netherlands in March 2003, it has now received regulatory approvals in more than 90 countries across five continents and has been launched in over 70 countries worldwide.

CRESTOR has treated over 12 million patients worldwide.
